Top 5 Cigars That Cannot Be Over-Hyped [EXTENDED]

Nothing destroys a cigars reputation faster than when it gets over-hyped by cigar lovers online. This happens every year when the Top 25 lists come out. The good news is that there are some cigars that, for one reason or another, really can’t be over-hyped. Some of them are blends that offer something you can’t quite get anywhere else.

Drew Estate Factory Smokes

These are literally the most affordable premium cigars made today. For that reason, any hype (other than hype related to how little they cost) is just bad information. At the end of the day, these are reasonably tasty for their shelf price, and perfect for stocking the humidor on a budget.

Flor De Oliva Maduro

This cigar is somewhat of an anomaly to me. In fact, the whole Flor De Oliva line is pretty amazing. These sub $5 cigars are long filler premium blends. They’re somehow cheaper than a lot of the cuban sandwiches that are coming out these days. They don’t get a lot of attention, and certainly deserve a lot more hype than they get.

Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne

When it comes to home run blends that pretty much everyone loves, few blends can stand up to the Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne. It is Perdomo’s No. 1 selling cigar, and the first smoke for A LOT of aficionados. The interesting thing about this blend is that it comes with some serious power, which doesn’t seem to turn off new smokers. This makes it the perfect blend for just about any smoker.

Dunbarton Sin Compromiso

Well, it doesn’t seem like I can keep Steve Saka’s cigars out of my videos… but that’s mostly because they’re quickly becoming the most reputable cigars on the market. This cigar, whose name means ‘without compromise’, offer an unmatched level of attention to detail with construction and flavor. If you like bold blends, you won’t do much better than the Sin Compromiso in any size.

Padron 1926

This cigar is one of very few made today that simply seems to always outpace the hype given to it. Padron’s 1926 series is regarded by many cigar lovers as one of the all time greatest top shelf blends. You’ll always find a near perfect draw, and masterfully balanced flavor when you light one of these up. It’s the cigar I recommend most to people who are having a baby, buying a new house, or celebrating some other big life event.

Plasencia Alma Fuerte

Like the above Padron, this is one cigar that just outpaces it’s own hype. The blend uses 10 year aged tobaccos to produce a perfectly refined flavor with zero imperfections. If you want a cigar that’s powerful but smooth, this cigar will hit the nail right on the head for you.

  1. Just picked up a sampler bundle of Havana Q (extension of the Quorum brand) by JC Newman. As a $2 stick, I’m hoping it can’t be over-hyped in the same way a Factory Smokes can’t.

  2. As always a great video, can’t say I have had any of these, but in my humble opinion most cuban cigars are over hyped just because they are cuban cigars. I live in Europe (Netherlands) and we can get cuban cigars but they are expensive, I like the Cohiba siglo IV and Bolivar as well but for the same price I can get a box of NUB’s with I also enjoy very much. Not to mention some Arturo Fuente cigars (also expensive but worth it) and AJ Fernandez.
Any chance of you going more global on shipping????? I sometimes reside in the UK so might try that but customs there is a pain.
    Keep up the great work.
    Cheers, Olivier
