Cigars are all about the allegiances that we form with other people. And it’s not different for cigar makers. The EPC Allegiance is all about collaboration and companionship. Legendary cigar maker E.P. Carrillo has partnered with Oliva Cigars to bring you this promising new Ecuador Sumatra cigar. Now I’m curious. We know that Oliva and Ernesto can create amazing cigars on their own. But can they bring their creative processes together to make something even more outstanding? And the only way to find out is with a cut and a light!

The Review:
The E.P. Carrillo Allegiance is a medium-bodied cigar that is made with a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers and a Connecticut Broadleaf binder. The wrapper is a dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra, giving the cigar an attractive appearance.
The pre-light aroma of the E.P. Carrillo Allegiance is earthy and woody, with a slight sweetness. The cold draw is smooth and easy, with a flavor of leather and a touch of spice.
Upon lighting, the cigar produces thick clouds of smoke and the flavor profile opens up. The first third of the cigar has a complex and balanced flavor of earth, wood, leather, and a hint of sweetness. The smoke is creamy and smooth, with a medium strength that is perfect for any time of day.
As I progressed into the second third of the cigar, the flavors became more intense and the spice began to build up. The earthy and woody notes became more prominent, and there were hints of coffee and dark chocolate. The smoke remained creamy and smooth, and the burn was even and consistent.
In the final third of the cigar, the flavors continued to intensify, and the spice became more pronounced. The smoke became richer and more complex, with notes of cedar and black pepper. The strength of the cigar increased slightly, but it never became overpowering.
The E.P. Carrillo Allegiance cigar has a long and satisfying finish that lingers on the palate. The ash is firm and holds on well, and the burn is consistent throughout the smoke. The draw is perfect, and the construction of the cigar is flawless.
